MusiQuest

FAQ

Do I need an account?

Not to play along. No music plays on your phone, only the timeline – sound comes solely from the host’s device. The host doesn’t need an account either; full songs only play, though, when the host plays on a laptop and is signed in to Spotify Premium there.

Why does the song stop after 30 seconds?

Spotify only delivers a preview when the host plays on a tablet or phone, or isn’t signed in to Spotify Premium on the laptop. You can still play that way. For full songs, the host signs in to Spotify Premium on the laptop and reloads the page.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The phone is actually what playing along is designed for – all you need is an up-to-date browser.

How many people can play?

As many as fit around the speakers. Each person joins with their own phone.

How long does a game take?

With the defaults – ten points to win – usually twenty to thirty minutes. You can turn that up or down with the winning score.

What happens if the connection drops?

The page reconnects by itself. If that doesn’t help, reload it – you stay the same player and keep your score.

Can I use my own playlists?

The host picks one of the playlists that the operator puts together in the admin area.

Are there difficulty levels?

The difficulty depends on the playlist: the closer together the years are, the harder the placing.

Is my data stored?

Only what the game needs – your chosen name, your answers and points – and only until the room has gone unused for 24 hours. Details are in the privacy policy.
